Day 14: Write content pages for your website
A website is the most prized possession of your business. As discussed in earlier articles, it acts as an online brochure of your business. The content pages of your website are the static pages of your website that do not change very often, apart from the Blog posts. You can keep adding more blogs or update/edit the existing ones. You should optimize the content pages of your website to fit the user needs and facilitate user convenience. It is important to keep in mind that what might the user look for on your website and what do you intend to provide them.
Let us have a look at some of the most important content pages in a website:
1. Home Page: The home page is the main identity of your website. It tells the user what might he expect from your website. Google considers your homepage the most when taking into account your online authority. It the first point of contact between your website and users. Your home page should have an impactful headline or at least an image that sums up your website. You can include an attractive image, animation or any video. A homepage is the first page a user will visit your website. Do not stuff too much information into it. Try to be minimalistic and interactive at the same time when designing your website.
2. About: As the name says it all, an about us page tells about you and your business and what this website is all about.
Here you can tell your users about your team, your expertise, experience and why should they choose you. You can lightly convince your users to choose you and your services. If you are successful, this might increase your sales and user growth. Do not be too forceful on your users to buy your products on your about us page. This might harm your site reputation. Instead of forcing them to buy from you, tell them why should they buy from you or tell them what is unique in you. You can even talk briefly about your successful client stories, your past accomplishments or any awards and honors you have received.
3. Contact Us: When a user goes through your about or homepage he might want to contact you if he is interested. That is where the contact us page will help. Here you can provide your users with your company address, contact number, and email id. You can even add a form where users can convey you any query or if they need any information. If you do not add such a page, you might lose on a potential client because he might want to contact you but there is no such way to do so.
4. Blog: Blog page serves the purpose of all the mentioned above pages i.e. homepage, about us and contacts page. A blog needs to be up to date.
Update the existing or write new blogs at least twice or thrice a week. A well-written blog is likely to attract a lot of users. The idol word limit for a blog should be 350 to 550 words. When you include a blog on your website, it sends your image to your users as an expert in your field. When the number of blogs on your website increase, search engines start considering you as an authority in your field.
5. Products / Services: If you are an e-commerce business owner, a products page is a must for your website. This way you can easily tell your users about your products and services.
When you have the main content pages on your website. it is also important to add internal links within them so that user can easily navigate within your website. We will be discussing it in our next article.
